About Sacramento Dentistry Group

A locally owned, full service dental practice serving midtown Sacramento and surrounding communities since 2006. Multilingual doctors, in house specialists, and a team that treats patients like neighbors, not numbers.

Who we are

Sacramento Dentistry Group is a locally owned, full service dental practice at 1105 E Street in midtown Sacramento. We have been here since 2006, serving the same neighborhood, the same families, and in many cases the same patients for nearly two decades. We are not a corporate chain. There is no distant investor making clinical decisions. The doctors who own the practice are the doctors who treat you.

Our team includes general dentists, a board certified periodontist, hygienists, assistants, and front office staff who have mostly been here for years. Low turnover matters in a dental office because it means the person cleaning your teeth actually remembers your history, your sensitivities, and the conversation you had last time. That continuity is something we protect deliberately.

Our doctors

Dr. Marjoorie Castro is our practice director. She spent nineteen years in private practice in Colombia before relocating to Sacramento, where she earned her U.S. dental credentials and built this practice from the ground up. Her background in endodontics means she handles the most complex root canal cases in house, and her experience as a dental educator in Colombia, where she authored the official endodontic guide for the Colombian government, gives her a teaching instinct that patients and staff both benefit from. She speaks fluent Spanish and English.

Dr. Samuel Karavan focuses on implant dentistry and complex restorative work. He brings precision, patience, and an eye for long term outcomes to every case he touches. He speaks English, Ukrainian, and Russian, which reflects the diversity of the community we serve.

Dr. Reem Atout is our board certified periodontist. Having a periodontist on staff is unusual for a general practice and it makes a real difference. Patients who need scaling and root planing, gum surgery, laser periodontal therapy, or implant site preparation can have all of it done in the same building by a specialist who coordinates directly with your general dentist. No referral runaround.

Dr. Brian Steele brings broad general and cosmetic experience to the team. Together, our doctors cover the full scope of modern dentistry without relying on outside referrals for the vast majority of cases.

Our office and technology

We wanted our dental office to not feel like a typical dental office. We did not want fluorescent lights flickering eight hours a day. We like nature and greenery, and our space reflects that. It is a place where we like going to work, and patients tell us it puts them at ease.

Behind the aesthetics is serious clinical technology. We use iTero digital scanners for impressions and smile previews, eliminating the gag-inducing putty trays of the past. Our low dose digital X-ray systems reduce radiation exposure. We run 3D cone beam CT scans in house for implant planning and complex cases. Our Fotona dental lasers provide less invasive periodontal therapy and more thorough root canal disinfection. We invest in technology when the clinical evidence supports it, not for the sake of marketing.

How we practice dentistry

We are educators first, dentists second. That is not a marketing line. It is the way Dr. Castro has practiced her entire career, and it shapes how every member of our team communicates with patients. We believe you should understand what is happening in your mouth, why we are recommending a particular treatment, what the alternatives are, and what happens if you choose to wait. An informed patient makes better decisions and has better outcomes.

We do not recommend treatment you do not need. We do not push the most expensive option when a simpler one will serve you just as well. We do not use fear or urgency to pressure people into decisions. We present findings honestly, explain the options clearly, provide a written estimate before any work begins, and let you decide. That approach costs us some revenue in the short term and earns us patients who stay for decades. We prefer the second outcome.

We also plan for the long term. A treatment that looks good today but fails in three years is not a good treatment. Every restoration, every cosmetic case, every implant is planned with longevity in mind. Conservative, evidence based, and planned for the long term.

Languages spoken

Sacramento is one of the most diverse cities in the United States, and our team reflects that. Between our doctors and staff, we serve patients in English, Spanish, Ukrainian, and Russian. Several team members speak additional languages as well. If language is a barrier to getting dental care, let us know when you schedule and we will pair you with the right provider.

Sacramento roots

We are a midtown Sacramento practice and we are committed to this city. Our patients are state workers, downtown residents, small business owners, students, families from Midtown, East Sacramento, Land Park, and neighborhoods across the region. We also serve patients who drive in from West Sacramento, Arden-Arcade, Carmichael, Elk Grove, and Rancho Cordova because they want a practice that treats them like a person, not a production number.

Nearly two decades in the same location, the same ownership, and the same philosophy. That is who we are. If you are looking for a dental home in Sacramento, start here or call us at (916) 538-6900.
