Welcome
New Patient Information
Everything you need to know before your first visit at Sacramento Dentistry Group.
Your first dental appointment
Walking into a new dental office for the first time can feel like a leap. We get it. Our goal is to make your first visit calm, transparent, and useful, whether you are dealing with an emergency, returning after a long break, or simply moving to Sacramento and looking for a new dental home.
Your initial visit will be one of two types of exams, depending on why you are coming in. Both are designed to give us, and you, a clear picture of where things stand.
Limited problem focused exam
If you have a specific concern such as a broken tooth, swelling, an abscess, sudden pain, or trauma, we focus the visit on identifying the problem and your options. Same day treatment is often possible so you do not have to come back a second time.
Comprehensive new patient exam
If you are establishing care for routine and preventive dentistry, this visit is more thorough. We take digital x-rays and intraoral photographs, check every surface of every tooth, evaluate your gums, screen for oral cancer, and review your bite. From there we build a treatment plan you actually understand.
What to expect, step by step
We hate vague dental experiences as much as you do. Here is exactly what your visit looks like from the moment you book to the moment you walk out.
Step 01
Book online or by phone
Use our online booking link to grab a real time slot, or call us during office hours and we will find you the soonest opening.
Step 02
Complete your forms ahead of time
New patient paperwork is sent digitally so you can fill it out at home. That keeps your in office time focused on care, not clipboards.
Step 03
Insurance verified before your visit
We run your benefits in advance so we can give you accurate, transparent estimates instead of surprise bills.
Step 04
Meet your dental team
You will meet a dental assistant, your hygienist, and your dentist. We go at your pace, answer every question, and never push treatment you do not need.
How we handle costs and insurance
We know cost is one of the biggest reasons people put off dental work. Before we start any treatment we walk you through your options, what your insurance will and will not cover, and what each option will cost out of pocket. You get to decide what is right for you. We accept most major PPO plans, and we partner with Cherry and CareCredit for flexible financing on larger cases.
You can review our accepted insurance list and our financing options before your visit. If you have a question we have not answered there, just call us and we will look up your specific plan.
What to bring to your first visit
- A photo ID and your dental insurance card if you have one
- A list of any medications you are currently taking
- Names and contact info for prior dentists or specialists, if relevant
- Anything you would like to discuss, including cosmetic goals or anxiety
Anxious or out of practice? Tell us.
A lot of our patients have not seen a dentist in years, sometimes because of fear, sometimes because of cost, sometimes because life simply got in the way. None of that is judged here. If you let us know up front, we can offer sedation options, longer appointment slots, and a calmer pace. We would much rather you tell us than push through and have a miserable experience.
