Post Treatment Instructions
If you are having mild to moderate discomfort, take 400 to 600 mg of ibuprofen (Motrin or Advil) every 6 to 8 hours as directed by your dentist. Do not exceed 2400 mg in a 24-hour period unless your provider has specifically instructed otherwise.
Keep your activity levels lower for the first 24 hours to reduce a rise in your blood pressure. Physical exertion will increase your blood pressure and will create pain at the tooth area.
Elevate your head on two pillows when sleeping to reduce a pressure build-up in the tooth area. The pressure can create post treatment pain.
The treated tooth may be sore to touch or chew with for 4-5 days following treatment. Avoid chewing on the tooth until you have placed the permanent restoration.
If swelling or severe pain develops following treatment please contact our office, even if it is after hours, on the weekend or on a holiday.
